How do you make sure that you have the very best leaders?

With an international team of over 11,000 employees, Kerzner wanted their leaders to develop self-awareness and feel more connected to their own teams and the wider community. To remain world-renowned as an ultra-luxury lifestyle brand isn’t easy. Competition is fierce and there is much reliance on those working in senior roles to spearhead, change and develop with the ever shifting market.

The challenges facing a multi-cultural leadership team

With so many cultures working together across the niche ultra-luxury resort market, Kerzner needed assistance and guidance to work out where to start on such an ambitious project, and how to make their initiatives applicable across their entire global senior-management workforce. The solution needed to be simple, online and culturally applicable while helping leaders identify their strengths and development opportunities – in order to use them as the starting point for an extensive development path.

Global feedback to enhance a global culture

 

360 assessments administered for leaders across the entire group

Kerzner worked with Cubiks to develop a 360° feedback process for all senior executives, in order to provide in-depth insights into individual, team and group-wide strengths and development opportunities, and provide a clear direction for growth. 
Cubiks developed nine leadership competencies to underpin the 360° solution, and created a 360 questionnaire.

Participants were coached through the feedback process and created development objectives in their Personal Development Plans. They were able to access Kerzner’s online learning library to consolidate and continue their learning. Collectively, the process allowed senior leaders to connect with their teams and colleagues, sharing development themes and plans across a geographically wide-spread context. The corporate HR function was provided with a clear view of the collective needs of their most senior teams, helping to shape their future C-suite recruitment and development strategy.

Increased self-awareness ratings in Kerzner’s leaders

After an initial pilot with 9 General Managers, 165 further Directors, Vice-Presidents and Senior Vice-Presidents from across the world took part in the 360 feedback assessments. 
A trend analysis of 360 feedback data from over 1,000 employees  was conducted to identify collective development themes, and these were presented back to Kerzner Corporate HR to provide further insights for training and development. The results demonstrated a 96% completion rate of participants in 2018 indicating a significantly high level of engagement of employees throughout the development process. Qualitative feedback in 2018 gives further insight that not only were employees more open to feedback, but they were eager to create a stronger feedback culture.
