Head of Business Development

We are now approaching the next stage in our commercial development and are seeking an energetic business development leader to come onboard and play a pivotal role in this growth phase.

What you'll be doing...

 

  • Work closely with Operations and senior leadership to devise and implement the business development strategy - both locally and internationally

  • Growing and developing the internal BD workforce

  • Meeting with BD professionals and Country Managers across the organisation on an ongoing basis to monitor and enhance BD performance

  • Implementing a variety of new business initiatives to target prospects and drive new business growth

  • Ensuring the organisation has an effective sales training programme.

  • Negotiating agreements for contracts with customers and ensuring commercial viability

  • Enhancing the CRM pipeline and lead tracking process

  • Ensuring the CRM is being used effectively 

  • Provide market feedback to the company leadership regarding competitive offerings, prospect needs and generate product development ideas.

  • Identifying business development opportunities as a result of market changes.

  • Devising and implementing incentive systems to drive BD performance 

  • Working closely with Marketing to ensure close alignment of BD and Marketing activity

  • Serve cross-functionally in the execution of programmes and projects

What you'll bring...

 

Experience

  • Strong commercial outlook and an entrepreneurial approach to business development with experience across all stages of the sales cycle, from lead generation to negotiation and closing

  • Previous successful experience working as a sales director in a related business sector, ideally in an international context.

  • Ideally, substantial track record in HR/Talent/Leadership consultancy or B2B software sales

  • Experience in working with senior management teams to develop sales strategies that align with wider business plans

  • Proven ability to manage sales teams, monitor sales performance and take prompt action to ensure growth is achieved.

  • Experience in developing and implementing a business development infrastructure for an organisation to create greater commercial know-how and maturity

  • Experience in developing commercial talent and specifically, in implementing a variety sales training initiative

 

Skills

  • Ability to develop sales strategies by applying analytical rigour, commercial acumen and entrepreneurial/creative thinking

  • Excellent prospecting, networking, persuasion, negotiation and closing skills 

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral (including presentations) 

  • High level of IT literacy 

  • Ability to successfully interface with Marketing to leverage skills, create compelling sales propositions and implement these at a local level

  • Highly numerate with strong ability in financial analysis, forecasting, project costing, and monitoring commercial activity

  • Strength in planning and performance management

  • Excellent people management skills 

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with people at all levels in a wide range of organisations 

 

Qualifications

  • Educated to Bachelors level (or equivalent)

  • Further degree in business administration would be advantageous but not essential

  • Specific sales training qualifications and know-how
